I started this blog back in 2011 as a way to document all things running related. Since then, it has grown into so much more. On May 18, 2012, I decided to dedicate the next 365 days to researching a running/health/nutrition related question and blogging about it that day. It isn’t always easy and it can take quite a bit of time. However, since I have started this journey, I have learned more than I have in the past 10 years of my running career. I am on a mission to be the best runner I can possibly be and to help others along the way. So far, it’s been an amazing experience and I look forward to the many more things I will learn.
And now, a little about me as a person:
I’m a wine loving, Spanish speaking, hardworking, teacher who happens to be a pretty decent athlete. I subscribe to the motto “Mind over matter,” and I love working with people. I haven’t always been about health and fitness. In fact, during my younger years, I ate Bojangles bacon biscuits (a Southerner’s favorite) every day for breakfast, McDonald’s cheeseburgers for dinner, and only drank coke. Yuck!!! Running entered my life during college when a professor wrote “26.2″ on the board and explained that was how far he had run that past Sunday. The idea that somebody would do that bewildered me, and at the same time, shaped me into the person I am today. Running has brought so much to my life, and I love being able to share that part of myself with others. I live for the run.
My Personal Bests:
5K – 20:40
5Miles – 34:33
10K – never done one!! I’m adding it to the list.
Half Marathon: 1:33 – I missed about 3 weeks of running due to a hip injury (which I still had for the race) and managed this time. I was happy but I know I can do better.
